Shoper to WooCommerce migration

Migrating Shoper to WooCommerce involves more than copying products. Available data, variant relationships, old URLs and switching during ongoing sales need assessment. The scope follows the actual configuration of both systems.

Start with an inventory

Record products and variants, categories, attributes, images, content and integrations. Separate the catalog from customers, orders, reviews, discount codes and billing history. Check whether each group can be exported and transferred; do not assume one file contains the entire store.

A trial using representative products

Select a simple product, a variable product, a sale item and an unavailable item. Compare identifiers, prices, stock, images and relationships. The built-in WooCommerce product importer has a defined CSV schema; source data needs correct mapping.

URLs and SEO before switching

• Keep the old URL list, including content and categories.
• Assign matching destinations to changed URLs.
• Transfer required metadata and check internal links.
• Test canonicals, indexability and the new sitemap.

Do not redirect the whole catalog to the homepage. A discontinued product with no equivalent needs a different decision from a product available at a new address.

The switchover

Agree when the old store stops taking orders, how to transfer data changes and who checks stock. Test purchases and messages on the new site. Recovery must account for orders placed after launch; restoring an old database may lose them.

What makes up migration cost?

Data preparation, new design, URL mapping, payment and delivery configuration and integrations are separate parts of the quotation. Custom data and functions without an equivalent matter particularly. A trial import exposes limitations before a full schedule is agreed.

Will customers retain their passwords?

Do not assume so. It depends on both systems’ capabilities and authentication compatibility. Account handling, any password reset and customer communication need agreement before migration.
