Google Ad Grants for nonprofit organizations

Google Ad Grants helps eligible nonprofit organizations reach audiences through Google advertising. Before applying, an organization should define its promotional objective, check the current program criteria and prepare a website where visitors can take the intended action.

What the program provides

Google describes Ad Grants as access to up to USD 10,000 per month in advertising for eligible organizations. This is advertising credit, not money paid to a foundation. Check availability and conditions in the official program FAQ and during Google for Nonprofits qualification.

Not every organization automatically meets the requirements. The limit should not be treated as a guarantee that all of it will be used or as a promise of a particular number of donations. Campaign opportunities depend on program rules, the organization’s offer and audience interest.

Start with one specific objective

A foundation may recruit volunteers, promote an event, explain an assistance program or reach donors. Each objective needs different content and a different landing page. Sending all traffic to the homepage often makes the next step harder.

For example, a recruitment campaign can lead to a description of volunteering, responsibilities, location and an application form. The measured outcome is a successfully submitted application, followed by the coordinator’s assessment. This illustrates a workflow; it is not a promise of program effectiveness.

Prepare the organization’s website

  • Explain the mission, the people receiving support and how the organization works.
  • Show current contact details and information that establishes credibility.
  • Create separate pages for the main programs and activities.
  • Check forms, mobile readability and the journey to a donation or application.
  • Remove outdated appeals and clearly mark completed projects.
  • Plan goal measurement without collecting unnecessary user data.

Documents and formal requirements should be checked against the current qualification process. A campaign guide does not replace Google’s assessment of a particular organization’s eligibility.

Measurement that helps the organization

Website visits alone do not show whether advertising supports the mission. Define which events indicate interest and which represent an actual action. Downloading information, starting a form and submitting it are three different stages.

If the objective is donations, check the whole payment process, including the transition to the payment provider. For volunteering, also assess candidate suitability and the team’s capacity to respond. Reports should make sense to the person running the program, not only an advertising specialist.

What to maintain after launch

You need current content, campaign reviews, measurement checks and monitoring of program notices. A website or form change can interrupt the existing journey. Assign responsibility for content, advertising and applications to specific people.

Questions about Google Ad Grants

Does the credit cover website development and management?

It is not a cash budget for that work. Technical costs and any external management need separate planning.

Will every foundation receive the full limit?

That cannot be promised. Qualification and use of the credit depend on program rules and campaign operation.
